The Viticci & Beckett version of the App Switcher is probably the one that won’t make it. It is confusing and requires too much management. The user has to maintain another set of app icons that he thinks will be used frequently. This is on top of managing the home screen itself which is not very funny in itself. Also, by putting recently used apps on the X-axis, only three apps can be displayed. The problem is that this isn’t enough. We need more than three. Apple could use some AI here to update and maintain this list automatically. Just like what iOS 10 does with the search search. Finally, the user could “pin” some of recently used app icons so they stay put. This would provide a more uniform layout of icons.
